This 52-acre park was constructed and dedicated to William E. Barber, a U.S. marine that died 2002 not far from this park which bears his name. Colonel Bill Barber served in WWII, Korea, and the Vietnam wars. Colonel Barber received the Medal of Honor from President Truman for his bravery in Korea when he led “his troops to defend a key pass near the Chosin Reservoir during one of the epic battles of the Korean War, despite being wounded in the leg by machine-gun fire.
The park combines a championship softball stadium, Little League tournament baseball fields, soccer and tennis courts, formal garden area, concession courtyard, restrooms, individual and group picnic and BBQ facilities, informal play and open space, and an interactive accessible playground.
