Mater Dei High School has been one of Southern California’s premier secondary institutions for over 60 years with many of its students, known as Monarchs, have served in the United States Armed Forces. The campus decided to honor past alumni who had served in the military by constructing this memorial named “Sentinels of Freedom”. The centerpiece of this memorial is a compilation of three, 10-feet tall black granite panels assembled in a triangle. Surrounding the granite pillars is a restive, basin of water. J&M constructed this basin using decorative Intecrete® hand-seeded crushed stone aggregates which is surrounded by precast concrete pavers, granite benches and landscaping. J&M was proud to have participated in the construction of this contemplative memorial.
