This urban park is located in downtown Los Angeles surrounded by two historic condominium high-rise buildings. The site served as a parking lot for decades and was converted in 2013 to provide much needed urban open space. J&M constructed the decorative concrete walkways that were directed by the City to be colorful, stimulating, and visually attractive. Concrete finishes included J&M’s Intecrete® paving system consisted two hand-seeded aggregate paving types – 1) Natural beach pebbles set in red integral colored concrete and 2) Blue recycled glass beads and Mother of Pearl shells set in light colored concrete. In addition to decorative paving, J&M also constructed cast-in-place concrete seatwalls and a fountain’s basin and sidewalls.
